HEALTHY FAMILIES PROGRAM SUPERVISOR

GRANT-FUNDED POSITION
POSITION: Healthy Families/Parents as Teachers (PAT) Supervisor
LOCATION: Plum Point Elementary School

Job Description:

Provide ongoing, intensive professional supervision to the direct service staff. This may include either or both of the components of service, family support or family assessment to assure quality of service provision and protect the integrity and respect of the families served. Allot at least two hours weekly supervision time for each staff member to assist the staff as they help families develop realistic and effective support plans. Evaluate why a family may not be making the expected progress and determine effective methods of intervention.
Assist in selection of staff, participate in orientation and in-service training, conduct record reviews, take part in the data collection process, implement a quality assurance plan, direct and provide case management and monitor the performance of the Family Support Worker and Home Visitors.
Act as a liaison with other agencies when needed. Monitor contracts and ongoing program development. Function as the team leader, conducting team meetings and planning groups. Provide daily support and crisis management. Allow the staff to express their concerns/frustrations in working with overburdened communities and families to avoid burnout.
REPORTS TO: Calvert County Public Schools - Program Coordinator; Healthy Families America and Parents as Teachers (PAT) National Center.
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND
Experience:
At the time of application, candidate must have:
  1. Bachelor's Degree with 3 years relevant experience in family counseling, social work, psychology/sociology, nursing preferred or related field.
  2. Must have training and experience in completing the assessment procedures that determine which families will be served by the program;
  3. Extensive clinical experience in working with multi-problem families;
  4. Administrative experience in human service programs;

QUALIFICATIONS AND
Experience:

(These are pre-employment knowledge, abilities and skills that apply to the Essential Job Functions.) At the time of application, the candidate must have:
  1. Knowledge of maternal-infant health and concepts of child abuse and neglect;
  2. Possess solid understanding and experience in managing/motivating staff as well as providing support in stressful working environments;
  3. Experience in working with culturally diverse communities/families and the ability to be culturally sensitive and appropriate;
  4. Familiarity with data collection, analysis, and reporting.

DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:

  1. Maintains regular family contact as required by individual levels, assigned by the Program Coordinator.
  2. Establishes Family Support Plan for active families within three months and updates plan(s) in the timeframes established by the program, (a minimum of every three or six months depending on funding source or as the family reaches or modifies goals.)
  3. Effectively apply basic counseling skills with families such as developing rapport, establish and maintain effective supportive relationships and professional boundaries, use active listening, reflection, and empowerment to support families in reaching their goals.
  4. Demonstrates motivation to learn and apply knowledge of child development, family development and family planning.
  5. Assists parents with medical and other appointments and associated transportation as appropriate.
  6. Demonstrates knowledge of community resources and makes appropriate referrals for families, acts as liaison with other agencies.
  7. Maintains casework standards as developed by Healthy Families Calvert County (HFCC) program. Documentation will be completed within 2 working days of the date of service. Exceptions for unforeseen circumstances may be made based on supervisory discretion.
  8. Participates in and completes approved continuing education training at least 48 hours per year.
  9. Maintains a dependable, punctual work schedule appropriate to the needs of the Healthy Families Calvert County/Parents as Teachers. Willing to work within the program guidelines, to meet the needs of families and of the program, which can include late afternoon appointments. Evening or weekend appointments need to be approved by the Program Coordinator.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned (i.e. attending management team meetings when assigned to present a case, client resource development, etc).
  11. Complies with all Healthy Families Calvert County Policies and Procedures. All staff will abide by all regulations, standards and codes of conduct as approved by the sponsoring agency (Employee will comply with the disaster planning policy of HIPPY/Healthy Families CCPS).
  12. Keeps Program Coordinator fully informed of activities, pertinent issues, upcoming events, and potential problems. Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills in daily work.
  13. Supports the program and works with others in an effort to accomplish the goals of Parents as Teachers and Healthy Families Calvert County, and Healthy Families America, and Parents as Teachers (PAT) National Center.
  14. Treats clients, the public and staff with courtesy, respect and dignity and presents a positive professional image.
  15. The employee is a team player, regularly attends and participates in staff meetings and works with other HFCC staff to accomplish the goals of the program. Interacts and communicates in a positive manner

OTHER DUTIES: Performs related work as required or assigned by the Program Coordinator.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Position requires significant periods of standing and walking and is performed in a typical school environment.
UNUSUAL DEMANDS: May be subject to a flexible work schedule, including working with families on an emergency basis.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Twelve (12) month position; Five (5) hours per day (25 hours a week); $30.00 per hour; employment is contingent upon continued grant funding and need. All employees are encouraged to have automatic payroll deposit.
FLSA STATUS:Non-exempt.
EFFECTIVE DATE OF POSITION: 2023-2024 School year

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
